Post here about anything going on during the draft. We can discuss rule modifications if you want, you can rip on my crappy picks, or just post if you are going to be away for any sort of extended period of time. Please be respectful and let's have a great draft!

I think last year there were a couple of things that were mentioned, that we could take a look at.. - Summer transfer window - make it a bit more fair to get the big free agents. - Trades - we had none last year. It would be nice to find a way to encourage people to trade more. Not sure how yet. I would also like to throw this out there: how about switching to a keeper league? We've been doing this league for a while, and there haven't been many owner changes, I guess it's a fair assumption we'll continue this for a while, with mostly the same owners. It would be nice to not start from scratch every year. I know it would be more complicated, but also much more fun

Could we do something like a serpentine transfer window, similar to how we do the draft? I'm imagining a system where teams would be ranked from lowest to highest, and then allowed to enact one player transfer at a time. Teams that didn't want to make a transfer would simply pass to the next team, with passes occurring automatically after a reasonable period of time. The serpentine order would stay in effect until the "transfer window" was closed, at which point transfers would return to normal and everybody could have at it again. Thoughts? I think last year there were a couple of things that were mentioned, that we could take a look at.. - Summer transfer window - make it a bit more fair to get the big free agents.

1. There will be few if any trades. Managers generally do not trade in a points-based game (as opposed to a rotisserie game). It is not worth worrying about. 2. Keepers are not worth the trouble, because you have to pay market value in the draft. If someone were keeping Giovinco, he would have to pay 11.5 and use his first round pick. 3. Because many game weeks start on Wednesday, we frequently would not have time for a complicated transfer system. A couple of years ago, we have a priority period for teams low in the standings. We could go back to that.

Couldn't decide on Villa or Drogba. Concerned that Drogba wouldn't finish the season.
Wasn't Feilhabet drafted 4th round last year?

I think I picked Benny in the 3rd or 4th round last year. He started at 9.0 too.

That was major last year. We have am the same budget but 2 less players this year. Lovejoy from Houston may not be necessary

True, keepers might be tricky with the price changes every year, but it would cut down on the time needed for the draft. Imagine shaving even a round off.

Here's a proposal for claiming of players:
- Players new to MLS cannot be claimed until the gameweek after they appear in MLS Fantasy. This eliminates the need to be constantly checking to see when new players come up in the game. - At the start of each gameweek there's a two-hour claiming window, say 9 to 11 a.m. Eastern. This eliminates owners vying to claim at 9:00:00.001 by their computer clocks. - Players who are claimed by more than one owner in the two-hour window go to the owner lowest in the standings.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Good ideas, but I don't think we need to wait until the following gameweek. We could have that 2 hour window every day of the summer transfer window. If one of the higher rated new MLS players (let's say, value > 7.0), gets claimed by more than 1 team, the lowest team that did not use this system before in this transfer window, gets the player.

Wow, stunned how quickly things developed. Last I checked yesterday afternoon we were still looking for the last owner. Anyway, the Rosters page on the main page is now updated with draft picks. Tabs on the bottom have seasons' past rosters and draft results, if you are interested. sites.google.com/site/sfaleague/rostersMy first-round pick will be made soon.

Just clarifying a point made in another thread: 16 players this season (last year was 18), with same $120M cap.
