I don't know why my browser always messes up the format when I draft... Are you using IE? That's usually why most things happen.

Here's a proposal for claiming of players: - Players new to MLS cannot be claimed until the gameweek after they appear in MLS Fantasy. This eliminates the need to be constantly checking to see when new players come up in the game. - At the start of each gameweek there's a two-hour claiming window, say 9 to 11 a.m. Eastern. This eliminates owners vying to claim at 9:00:00.001 by their computer clocks. - Players who are claimed by more than one owner in the two-hour window go to the owner lowest in the standings. Any thoughts? Good ideas, but I don't think we need to wait until the following gameweek. We could have that 2 hour window every day of the summer transfer window. If one of the higher rated new MLS players (let's say, value > 7.0), gets claimed by more than 1 team, the lowest team that did not use this system before in this transfer window, gets the player. I like the idea of a daily morning window. I'm not sure we have to limit how many times an owner uses the system though. There are already transfer limits in the game. I like that this system would help even up the lower teams a bit and maybe give people a reason to stay involved longer.

I thought I was at a disadvantage being on pacific standard time but I did get Drogba at 5am.
I was part of the 6am post rush with Stanley Reds.
If we put a hold on players to the following week the 6am rush will be even more intense.

I wouldn't mind giving priority to teams lower in the standings during a window. I would say 9 am to 12 pm EST on Monday. But that doesn't deal with free agents that appear later in the week. Most free agents are not very significant, although clearly Drogba was an exception.

I like that this system would help even up the lower teams a bit and maybe give people a reason to stay involved longer. I meant giving the second-worst team the chance to get a big summer signing as well, not just the worst team. Especially now with the smaller rosters, salary caps shouldn't be much of an issue, so I wouldn't be surprised if a team could potentially get 3 or 4 higher paid players. Obviously, there's plenty of time to decide on this. Maybe we should start a separate thread with a poll, see what everybody else thinks. I'd also love a thread / poll for the keeper discussion. The best fantasy leagues I'm in (in other sports of course) are keeper leagues.

Haven't gone through all the comments, but I would say:
1. Any change to the free agent rule should be kept simple. I've really dropped the ball over the last year in keeping up with things, but we don't want anyone to have to police a complicated rule. 2. As far as the keeper league goes, I'll admit I don't have much experience with it. What I would suggest is that once the draft is done we set up a thread to talk about it, and potentially have that as a separate competition for those who want to do it. As it is a keeper league, we could have a separate draft maybe right after the summer window, playa shortened first season, and the go forward with our teams. That said, I do have several concerns over how well it would work with MLS and its various intricacies, but I'll save that for the keeper league thread if there is enough interest. One reason that I wouldn't want it to completely replace our yearly competition is that the draft is typically pretty fun, and some of that would be diminished with a keeper league. I don't see an issue with running two leagues off of this forum if we work out the details though.

Where can I get a list of Manager's Names, Team Names, SFA Nicknames, email address and phone contact?
For Example: Hal Jones, Aviators, Trollpop, etc.
I can use the list to contact people during the draft and for future draft season organizing and help understand who is offering a trade in a post when I don't recognize their SFA nickname.

Let's put together a list of contact info for all the managers.
I'd be glad to compile it and then share it back with everyone. Just send me a pm with your info.
Please include drafting time zone; preference on how to be notified when it's your turn to draft; any periods of draft unavailability; name; SFA name, team name, phone number(s), email address.
We need to get this draft moving and make sure our new manager understands how to use proxy picks.

We do need to keep this draft moving. Most of us have been guilty over the years of slowing up the draft, and this year we are up against a tight deadline. What can / should you do to keep the draft moving?
1. EXCHANGE CONTACT INFO WITH THE MANAGER ON EITHER SIDE OF YOU IN THE DRAFT. Texting is the best if you are willing. Make sure to text managers immediately after you pick. If you are providing proxy pick to someone, it helps them to have the contact info for next managers as well.
2. You can go into your settings as set it to email you any time there is a post to the draft thread. This helps if you don't mind getting the emails.
3. Use proxy picks. If you won't be around for an extended time, please contact a manager who is after you in the order and give them a couple of choices to pick. Especially in the later rounds.
4. There is an app for android and iphones called tapatalk. If you install that you can do everything from your phone. It is really easy. This app also gives you a notification on your phone if you want it to when there has been a post. To find our forum, just do a search in tapatalk for "sfacommunity"
We really need to get 3-4 rounds a day done minimum to finish in time.
